The Coronavirus

The Coronavirus has caused widespread panic throughout the world. Countries are shutting down borders and schools are closing their doors. But how is the Coronavirus any worse than the flu? Why are people so scared of the Coronavirus when there are so many scarier diseases like measles, Ebola, and others? How did the Coronavirus become more dangerous than the flu when the flu has killed far more people than the Coronavirus?

The Coronavirus causes sneezing, runny nose, fatigue, cough, fever, sore throat, and sometimes it may worsen asthma. Opposed to the flu which can cause a fever, a cough, a sore throat, a runny or stuffy nose, muscle aches, headaches, tiredness, vomiting, and occasional seizures, bluish lips, ribs pulling in with each breath, or hives. Also, the Coronavirus doesn’t really affect younger people it only tends to affect older people and people with respiratory problems.

Due to the Coronavirus if you travel outside the country you may be quarantined for two weeks. Yes, legally the government can impose a quarantine under the Public Health Service Act for two reasons: to prevent the spread of disease into the United States or between states. But why waste resources on the people that the disease does not affect as badly when you can utilize your resources to help the people it really affects like the people 60 and older and the people that have respiratory problems?

Another thing the Coronavirus is affecting is the stock market. If we keep up this panic we have going on, the stock market will take a deeper dive, which could make a huge problem for us. The economy will be damaged.

When will people realize that they are freaking out over a disease that will not badly affect them unless they are over 60 or have respiratory issues? Everyone needs to just take a breath and relax if we are ever going to stop the spread of Coronavirus we need to calm down and work together.
